Green Building Potential
The Chautauqua Multi-Use Organizing Committee, Inc. has made a commitment to utilizing environmentally-friendly building materials and techniques in the construction of its proposed facility. Nationally, professionals in the field of recreation are emerging as leaders in the movement toward green architecture. Architect Richard Peebles will attempt to incorporate ideas such as natural lighting, geo-thermal heating and cooling, water conservation, energy efficiency, healthy air circulation and ventilation, and renewable energy. Sherri Mason and Peter Reinelt, SUNY Fredonia professors and experts in the field of sustainable construction, have presented information to the board of directors. The board is dedicated to creating this project with a low environmental impact. Future users can benefit from the decreased utility costs and the healthy atmosphere this type of construction will provide. -
